for a quick recovery
On October 13th, 2013, Martha Childress and her friend, visiting from Clemson University, went to the see the Hunter Hayes concert in Columbia, SC. After the concert the two girls went to Five Points in Columbia, which is a very popular area for college students , to get some dinner after the concert. After getting dinner the two girls waited in line for a cab ride back to Childress' dorm room. While waiting for the cab, Childress was shot by a stray bullet that was fired after two men near by were fighting. The bullet was lodged into her spine causing paralysis in her legs. For now, Childress is in the early stages in a long road of recovery.
